INTRODUCTION
-
- The International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE),
International
Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is a pioneering institution in
the field of Islamic Economics around the world that provides a unique opportunity for
education, training and research in the field of modern and Islamic
economics. The primary objective of the institute is to
reconstruct Islamic economics and prepare scholars, fully equipped with
Shari'ah, to be able to Islamize the financial system of the economy.

- The
Institute was formally established in August 1983 through a
Resolution of the Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan. The
School of Economics of the Islamic University Islamabad which
started functioning in 1981, became a component of the Institute.
The Institute was made a constituent unit of the International
Islamic University, Islamabad under the International Islamic
University Ordinance 1985. The Council of the Institute, chaired by
President IIUI, provides policy guidelines. The Director General is
the academic and administrative head of the Institute.

MISSION

- To organize teaching of modern economics,
Islamic economics, Islamic banking and finance and other related
disciplines at undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and post doctoral
levels and conduct advance studies, research, training and
consultancy in the underlying areas.

- To promote cooperation with other
institutions and organizations in the field of modern economics,
Islamic economics and the allied disciplines through seminars,
colloquia conferences, staff and student exchanges, scholarships,
stipends and bursaries.

- To organize studies and surveys regarding
the Muslim world and publish the results of this work for the larger
benefit of the Ummah.

- To undertake necessary measures for the
promotion of Islamic economics, banking and finance.

- To hold seminars and workshops for training
in the areas of Islamic banking and finance.

well-known universities within and abroad Pakistan.
